Reminiscent again of jazz crossover pieces of the finest 1970’s era calibre, this song is completely on-point for the present times. “No more soft-peddling, I want to be radical! Speaking from the front of the car, not the back-seat driving or skiving in my 9-5 late lunch latte long meetings”. On the page it looks weird, but when Karen sings it with her eccentric phrasing and sarcastic passion, it sounds perfectly hard-hitting.
The middle crazy chorus section is a high point; envisage Patti Smith and early P.J.Harvey mixed in with Lottie Lenya (and maybe some Ethel Merman) – we get Brechtian existential avant garde jazz rock! BABAL outros to songs tend to be quite a trip in themselves, and “Radical” has a great one.

Karen Langley the front Lady, singer/songwriter of British most eclectic experimental psych prog rock band BABAL has been always true and straight to the point regarding her lyrics. Never cynical but intensely outspoken of what life is all about. ' Radical ' moves you not only for its lyrical content, but also musically. My deepest love for their music has drawn me in because of their extraordinary musical eclecticism and creativity rarely found in other bands I come across. BABAL music, created by Karen's husband, multi instrumentalist Rob Williams and drummer Jon Sharp, is always filled with dominating, intense and most of all complex sound which fills up my heart with joy and admiration. ' Radical ' ,musically it goes hand in hand with the song; slow, dramatic and above all enthralling. And what you find inside it's the upmost love. admiration and collaboration within the three of them which cause a real explosion of heartful music. ' Radical ' it's a striking 9mins 53secs of magia musicale.
